Lutz

Shishir Kumar, of Lutz, FL beloved husband to Roopa Purushotham and father to Siddhant and Srishti Srivastava, passed Saturday March 2, 2024, after battling with cancer for the past six months. His last words were “It’s not over till it’s over”.

Born in Ranchi, India he was the youngest of four children to Dr Bindeshwari Prasad and Indu Bala Shrivastva. He grew up in Ranchi where he attended elementary through high school and attended college in Delhi where he studied Computer Science engineering. During this time, he was an avid player of cricket and fan of music where his favorite artists were Kishore Kumar, Mohd Rafi and The Police.  He met his wife, Roopa in Delhi and married her in 2000.  Following marriage, they moved to Atlanta, GA.  He started his family welcoming Siddhant in 2004 and Srishti in 2010. He also obtained his Master of Science (Information Systems) in 2008 from Kennesaw University

Shishir was known by his loved ones as a big foodie, cocktail connoisseur, someone who enjoyed the outdoors, and took any excuse to spend time with his family and loved ones. He was a dreamer and had a vision of what his life should look like and was determined to stop at nothing to achieve those goals for himself and his family. During the entirety of their 24 years marriage, him and Roopa were total partners who relied upon each other for guidance and support.  The family moved from Atlanta to Tampa, gaining friends who quickly became family along the way.  His focus, determination, and perseverance were guided by ensuring that his wife and children were always well cared for.

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his parents, brother Prakash, sister Pramila, and several nieces and nephews whom he always cherished.  He is predeceased by his elder sister Pratibha.

A memorial service will be held on March 6, 2024 at Morgan Funeral Home.  The family will be receiving friend and family from 1:00 to 2:00PM EST, followed immediately by cremation according to Hindu rituals.  His remains will be taken to India in accordance with Hindu traditions.
