Ruth Littel

Ruth Ann Littel joined her parents, Gerald and Margaret Littel in heaven on August 10, 2017. Ruth was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on October 20, 1962. She attended St Jude the Apostle Grade School and was a member of Pius XI High School’s graduating class of 1980. She achieved her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and completed UWM’s Interpreter Training Program. Ruth achieved National Interpreter Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. During her career, Ruth was a Sign Language Interpreter with the Milwaukee Public Schools, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Franklin Public Schools and Milwaukee Area Technical College. She was an Artistic Interpreter for the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, making the Arts accessible to Deaf and Hard of Hearing patrons. Most recently, Ruth was interpreting for students in the Pasco County School System. She also used her sign language interpreting skills to serve patients in medical and mental health settings. Ruth cared deeply for her students, friends and family. Ruth was always happiest when doing something to help someone else. She approached life with optimism; believing that “everything always works out,” always smiling through her own struggles. She sang in several choirs over the years. Ruth was a dedicated and enthusiastic Green Bay Packer fan and was well known for her baking skills. Ruth made the best chocolate chip cookies, because she made them with love and to make people happy. Ruth is survived by her sister Mary Littel, her sister and brother-in-law, Joan Conrad and Craig Conrad, her brother Richard Littel, Dennis Manning, nephews Dennis Manning II and Matthew Manning, her Aunt Renee Littel, and cousins Kristi Fundak, Vicki Littel and Joseph Shabatka. She was loved dearly by Norlaine Conrad, Pat & Cindy Clark, Cary Zeznanski and her dear friend, Lucy Amirios. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory can be made to: American Diabetes Association. . 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900. Arlington, VA 22202 There will be a Memorial Service held at Morgan Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 18, 2017. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. with a service following. There will also be a Memorial for Ruth on Friday, August 25th, 2017 at St Jude the Apostle Church, 734 Glenview Avenue, Wauwatosa, WI 53213, phone #: 414-258-7371. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. and Mass will be at 5:00 p.m.
