Bob died peacefully at his home on January 16, 2023, with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Wendy, and daughters Julie Byrne (Mike) and Rebecca Jonas (Steven). He is a proud papa to five granddaughters (Hailee Byrne, Abigail Jonas, Lindsee Byrne, Rylee Byrne, and Sarah Jonas) and one grandson (Robert Jonas).
Bob was born on March 30, 1947 to Robert Sr. and Ruth Ascott who predeceased him. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Herbert, of Aurora, IL. He grew up in Eola, IL and graduated from Naperville Central High School in Naperville, IL in 1965. He earned his bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from Aero Space Institute in Chicago, IL.
During the course of his life and 52-year marriage to Wendy, their daughters were born in Pittsburgh, PA and they moved to Florida in 1984. They enjoyed a great deal of interesting travel in their life together and especially loved their visits to Central and South American countries.
Bob is loved by everyone who has met him and made friends everywhere he went. He has shared his wisdom and stories with so many people he met along his life’s journey. He enjoyed preparing for the unexpected and always had a plan to keep his family safe. Bob leaves behind so many friends and family who love him dearly.
There will be a celebration of life for Bob on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Lakeview Church at 475 East Lake Rd. N., Tarpon Springs, FL 34688. The family will receive friends after the service at Bob and Wendy’s home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Bob Ascott Memorial Fund. This fund will be used to spread love and kindness in memory of Bob to the Isaiah 1:17 House and other organizations that are near and dear to Bob and Wendy.
