Leroy J. Hersh, Jr.

Leroy (Jack) Hersh Jr, 92, passed away on March 16, 2024, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL.  He was born on November 29, 1931, in Flourtown, PA, the son of Leroy J. Hersh Sr and Virginia W. Hersh (Roberts).

He most recently resided at Cabot Cove Assisted Living of Largo where he had many friends and beloved staff, who were like family to him. He was a longtime resident of Dunedin, FL and Derry, NH, where he raised his children.  

He graduated from Emerson High School in Union City, New Jersey where he played football and ran track.

He served in the US Navy during the Korean War.  Jack had several careers, as a Greyhound bus driver, a flooring installer, and later in maintenance at Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater, FL.  Jack was known for his wonderful sense of humor, his kind, generous and loving heart, his love for people, his grateful attitude, and his strong faith in God.

He and his late wife Barbara Hersh had a heart for children and cared for several foster children while living in New Jersey and New Hampshire.

He is survived by his brother Dennis Hersh and wife, Delores (Dee) of Palm Harbor, FL, his daughter Linda Bodensteiner and husband Tom, and his son Mark, all of Epping, NH, his grandson Ryan Hersh and wife Brittany of Fairfax, VA, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Barbara Helen Hersh (Ricci) and his sister Lyde (Jill) Hersh.

His daughter, Linda, would like the staff at Cabot Cove Assisted Living of Largo for keeping a watchful and caring eye over Jack during his residence there.

A private family internment of his ashes at his family’s plot in Plaistow, NH will be scheduled at a later date.
