Johnie Stone

October 30, 1939 — August 25, 2015

On Tuesday August 25, 2015, Johnie Stone, 75, of Hudson FL peacefully went to heaven while surrounded by his loving wife and son. Johnie was born in Shady Hills West Virginia on October 30, 1939. After serving in the United States Army, he moved to the Washington DC area and began his civilian career. He then went to work for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters headquarters in Washington, D.C., starting in the mailroom and working his way up, he ultimately served in an executive capacity the majority of his career. He then became an entrepreneur, establishing several successful businesses until his retirement in 2008. Among his many accomplishments were Fas-Fax courier service in Alexandria Virginia, the Germantown Inn in Germantown MD, and Crabby Dicks restaurant in Key West FL. He became a 3rd degree Freemason in Baltimore in 1992, then received his 32nd degree in the Scottish Rite, and finally a Shriner in 1993. Johnie believed strongly in the morals and principles of the fraternity, and was very proud to be a part of the charitable works of the hospitals of the shrine. Johnie was not only a gentleman, but also loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, and being outdoors. He was always willing to give a helping hand to his family and friends even through his illnesses in later years. Johnie was very strong emotionally and physically, and loved to see people laugh. He would always have a smile to share for others accomplishments, and provide a shoulder to lean on when things weren’t so good. Being survived by his wife Deanna Stone, son John G. Stone Jr., step sons; Joseph A. Gallo, Frank A. Gallo, Michael S Gallo, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many friends, he will be missed dearly by all. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at the Morgan Funeral Home on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 10:00 AM 6025 Trouble Creek Rd, New Port Richey, FL 34653 (727) 847-3999. Immediately following will be entombmented at Florida National Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children on Johnies behalf. Donations can be forwarded to Donations Department at the Shriners Hospital, 12502 USF Pine Drive, Tampa, Florida 33612.
