Mr. Edward Sudzina passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the age of 81. Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Callie, and his sister, Sylvia Ann Perhacs. Ed had three children: Michael (Karla) of Greenwood, Indiana; Donna (John) Graham of Algonquin, Illinois; and Edward Charles Sudzina of Clarkston, Michigan. Ed was the proud grandfather of six; all of whom will dearly miss their loving papou.
Ed was born in 1934 in Cechov, Czechoslovakia to Michael and Anna Sudzina. He moved to Youngstown, Ohio in 1937 with his parents and relatives. Aside from raising three children with Callie, Ed had a successful business career in the supermarket industry as a sales and marketing executive with National Tea, Kroger, and Great Scott! supermarket chains. Following his retirement in 1992, Ed and Callie settled in Florida where Ed quickly resumed his penchant for leadership while simultaneously giving back to his community as a Council Member in his beloved St. Anne Parish, as Grand Knight and later Financial Secretary of the Fr. Felix Ullrich Council of the Knights of Columbus, and as President of the East Lake Woodlands Condo Association.
In spite of a lifetime of professional achievements, Mr. Sudzina deeply cherished the personal relationships he fostered over the years. The loss of Ed is a shock to his countless friends and to those in the community in which he served. He was tireless in his pursuit to serve the greater good and his fellow man.
But most of all, Ed was proud to be a husband, father, and grandfather. Always stressing the importance of family over all else, Ed loved his family with his whole heart and demonstrated his love and devotion to them every day of his rich life.
Ed Sudzina will be dearly missed, but we are comforted with the knowledge that he is with our gracious Lord in His heavenly kingdom.
Ed will be laid in state at Morgan Funeral Home on Monday, October 12 from 4pm to 8pm with the traditional Parastas beginning at 5pm. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10am on Tuesday, October 13 at St. Anne Byzantine Catholic Church at 7120 Massachusetts Avenue in New Port Richey, FL.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ed’s name to St. Anne Byzantine Catholic Church.
