Montero, Luis A.

On Tuesday, February 24, 2015, Luis A. Montero went to be with God at the age of 75. Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico he lived in New York City, Long Island, and finally New Port Richey for the past 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Maria. Luis is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anna Esther Mercado Montero, his brother Jay, his daughter Esther Kelly, and his sons Louis, Anthony, and Mario, and his grandchildren Tara, Sean, Kerin, LA, James, Brian, and Anthony.

He was a business owner and professional flooring and carpet installer for more than 50 years. Luis loved sports especially captaining his winning Bullets softball team, coaching Little League for his sons, and winning numerous bowling tournaments. He was an avid reader and loved the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Luis was a rock solid friend whose fierce loyalty and determination were relied on by many people, especially in times of need. He was loved by all for his easy going nature and ability to have a good time. He was a great father and a wonderful husband who will be forever loved and never forgotten.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, 2/28/2015 @ 9:00 AM at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 8320 Old Country Road 54, New Port Richey, FL 34653. In lieu of sending flowers, please make a donation to the Gulfside Hospice at Southern Pines, online:
