  1. Jay Shrader says

David was a very regimented person, but he had a big, big God filled heart. He loved his family, Bev, Tina, Tommy and the grandkids. He was a long time resident at Colony Cove, and loved delivering newspapers, and lowering the flag at the passing of a resident. He loved writing poetry, and talking about his time in the army and the phone company. He loved Asbury Methodist Church, where he attended since the 70’s. He loved singing in the church choir, going to bible study and church, followed by lunch with his group at Susie’s Too; he always ordered the same thing. He was extremely patriotic, and loved speaking to the children about his time in the army on Veteran’s Day at Fort Myers Christian School. He always showed off his huge American flag with just 48 stars. He was like a father to me, and a grandfather to my children. I believe the world is a better place because David Blanden was here, and I will miss him, very much.
