Pastick, Fr. Joseph A.

Father Joseph Pastick

Father Joseph Aloysius Pastick Passed to his eternal reward October 19. He was ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of Chicago in 1949. After a long career serving the Catholics in the Chicago area, he retired to New Port Richey Florida. Despite his retirement status, Father Joe continue to minister to the Catholics of the New Port Richey, Port Richey and Hudson area .serving As an assistant priest at our Lady Queen of Peace in New Port Richey .He also assisted  at both St. James church in Port Richey and St. Michael the Archangel in Hudson. In Addition, he served as chaplain to the Knights of Columbus at our Lady Queen of Peace Council and as chaplain to the teaching sisters at Bishop Larkin school, Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus.

In his retirement, despite long hours ministering as a priest, he managed to find time for golf, and an occasional hunting or fishing trip. He loved all outdoor sports and before his knee repair had been an avid cyclist as well. He also loved to travel. Travel took him to a number of countries. All of these trips in addition to vacation time included pilgrimages to many holy sites.

Father Joe will be remembered for his engaging smile , his simple and humble demeanor, his purity of heart and above all, his love of Jesus and Mary. His greatest honor was to be able to say Mass and administer the sacraments. Perhaps the most fitting description of Father Joe is “thou art a priest forever, according to the order of Melchisidech”.

“May the angels lead thee into Paradise, May the martyrs receive thee at thy coming and take thee to the holy city Jerusalem, May the choirs of angels receive thee, and with Lazarus, once a beggar, may you have everlasting rest”.
